CupCase for the Bride and Bridesmaids

CupCaseCalling all brides! Even if you haven’t planned a destination wedding, chances are good you’ll at least have to travel across town to the ceremony site. And this means you’ll have to pack everything you’ll need to get ready for the ceremony whether a mile away or 1000 miles away.

CupCase Your Bras makes it easy for you to ensure your bra arrives in perfect condition, because you won’t want to wear a lumpy, crushed or creased bra underneath your beautiful wedding dress. When you’re packing your necessities, simply tuck your bra into a CupCase, zip it up and toss it in your bag. Inside CupCase, your bra won’t get snagged by heels or crushed by a makeup kit.

Honeymoon Packing
We’re pretty sure you’re not only looking forward to your big day, but also to your honeymoon. Here are some great tips for packing for your honeymoon from Brides.com:

1. Get your bags ready to go in plenty of time before your honeymoon. Lay out your bag so you can toss in essentials whenever you think of them. Repack it neatly when you’re ready to go. Just be sure to make a list so you don’t forget anything important.

2. Put a set of your partner’s clothes in your suitcase and vice-versa. This will save the day in case one of you loses your luggage.

3. Avoid packing crushable linens or easy-to-crease pieces. Your clothes might be stuck in your suitcase for a little longer than usual, so take a few precautions.

CupCase can definitely help with No. 3 here. Use a CupCase to pack your bras so in the event your suitcase is sitting at the bottom of the stack and it’s lost for days, at least you won’t have to worry about your bras being flat as pancakes when your suitcase finally arrives.

For Bridesmaids Too!

And brides, we’ve discovered CupCase is not only great for you, it’s a wonderful gift for bridesmaids, too! Your friends will love this fun and practical gift. They’ll be able to use it to transport their undergarments to the ceremony site so they can get ready with you. And, you and your bridesmaids will be able to use CupCase for many years to come, wherever your travels take you.

Bra Tops Hot for Spring and Other Fashion News

It’s barely gotten cold outside, and the fashion world is already thinking about spring! And you’ll never guess what some fashion houses are offering for spring: Bra tops.

If you haven’t seen or heard about this, Versace, Dolce Gabbana, Donna Karan and more incorporated “fashionably sporty” bra tops into their lines for spring 2012. The tops feature thick straps, elastic bands and sporty cutouts teamed with full skirts and jackets. Some can be worn over dresses, and there are strapless options, too.

Fashion reporters say the trend has a “retro” feel to it and will provide endless options for layering. A glimpse of this fashion trend had some of us at CupCase thinking about doing a few thousand crunches and buying a ticket to Hawaii where we could try out the new trend without running into anyone we know.

Let us know what you think about bra tops for spring. Is this something you might try?

In other news, it was just announced that supermodel Bar Refaeli (who used to date actor Leonardo DiCaprio) is going to launch her own line of affordable underwear. The collection will reportedly include selections for women and men, and it will focus on comfort.

We like that idea, as we all tend sacrifice comfort in the name of fashion. And because we also sacrifice a lot of green for fashion, we like that Refaeli’s line is supposed to include basic items in the mid-range price sector. The line will be called Undeez and will be available in Europe in early 2012 and the U.S. in late 2012.

Tips for Cleaning Your Bras

travel brasHere at CupCase, we’re guilty of it, too. Whether by accident or an act of laziness, we have washed our fine lingerie with the rest of our laundry. We’ve said, “It will be fine,” to ourselves and then found our lovely bras wound around the agitator, wrapped up like a snake around jeans or hooked to a plush towel.

Our grandmothers used to wash their bras by hand and then hang them over the shower rod in the bathroom (or outside on the line). Not because they had to, but because they wanted them to last and look good.

These days, bras can be pretty expensive, so it’s just as important we take care of them. Here are a few tips to help keep your bras in great shape!

First and foremost, read the label so you know if you can machine wash your bra or if you should actually break down and hand wash it.

For those you can wash in the machine, put them in lingerie bags to keep them separate. A mesh bag prevents them from winding around other items and reduces surface wear from friction against tougher fabrics. Make sure you clasp each bra before tossing in the mesh bag. Also, use the delicate cycle, cool water and a gentle detergent.

Some experts say you should never put bras, panties and shapewear in the dryer because the heat breaks down spandex fibers and elastic. Drying on a line, rack or mesh drying shelf is best. If you have to toss them in the dryer, lightly shake them out first for quicker, more even drying. Many lingerie fabrics will dry fast and should be dried on a low temperature setting.

If your bra requires hand washing, it’s probably made with really delicate fabric or has been adorned with lovely beads or bows. Just think of how long your bra will stay beautiful just by giving it the TLC it needs!

Select a detergent specially made for hand-washing items. Follow the directions on the package, but generally, you should let the pieces soak for a few minutes in warm or cool water, then gently squeeze the suds through the fabric. Then rinse and pat with a towel or roll in a towel to absorb excess moisture before hanging them to dry.

After your bras are all clean and dry, store them in a CupCase! While CupCase is handy for traveling, it also will help protect your bras and keep them in their natural shape while stored in your dresser drawer.

So give your bras the TLC they deserve (afterall, think of all the hard work they do for you J!) and you’ll have them to enjoy for years to come.

Have CupCase, Will Travel

CupCase Bra Storage CaseThe holidays are approaching and many of us will be traveling to see family and friends. Packing a bag for a weekend or week-long trip can often be a challenge. Will it be hot or cold? Will I need a dressy outfit or will we just be hanging out? Better bring some of everything, just to be sure.

Underneath it all, there’s one essential that can’t be left behind: your undergarments! CupCase Your Bras can help.

We created CupCase as stylish protective travel and storage case for your bras. By storing your bras inside the case, it protects them from crimping, crushing and creasing. When you pack, you no longer have to try to stuff socks in your bras to help maintain their shape. Nor will you have to find a strategic spot (running shoes?) in your suitcase where your bras won’t get crushed.

The CupCase is spacious and holds up to three bras in their natural shape, with a little room left over for undies, hair ties or jewelry. And our unique design allows CupCase to wiggle its way into place in your luggage while still remaining easy to find. Here’s a short video on how CupCase works:

As an added bonus, by storing your unmentionables in the soft but sturdy CupCase, it also protects your other clothing from getting wound up in the straps or snagged by the clasp.

CupCase comes in five fashion-forward colors and patterns. Choose from Hot Pink, Little Black Dress Black, Spot on Leopard, Pretty Purple or Charming Cheetah. What will your color be?

Be sure to let us know how CupCase Your Bras works for you on your next trip!

Be Bra Fabulous for the Holidays

holiday brasAlright, ladies. Holiday party season is approaching and CupCase wants to make sure you’ve got your bras in order for your fabulous getups!

Whether you decide to rock a backless dress, a strapless gown or a classy sheer top over fancy pants, CupCase has a few tips to keep you from committing any party no-nos with your bra. Typical offenses include: straps or back showing, wrong color and lack of support. You don’t want that to be you, do you? Here are some tips to keep you on the safe side:

  • A really good bra is a fabulous investment any time of year, but during party season, you might need to buy a new one, especially if the outfit you’ve chosen to party in has challenging lines (off the shoulder, backless, low-cut, etc.).
  • If you’ve already bought your ensemble, take it with you when you shop for the bra. This is key, because you’ll need to try it all on together. There are a lot of really cool options out there including:
    • Bras with transparent straps – These are just as supportive as regular bras, but the straps are barely visible.
    • Backless bra — There are a few choices for a backless bra, including one that has straps that go slightly around the shoulders, leaving the back completely exposed. Another type has a strap that winds around the lower part of the waist, exposing the back but providing the lift and support of a regular bra.
    • Strapless bra — Choose between bandeau and cup options, which offer support without the shoulder straps.
    • Convertible bra – The detachable straps on this all-in-one garment can be changed around from basic to strapless, halter, cross-back, racer-back and even backless.
  • If you decide to wear a classy sheer top, some recommend you wear a bra of the same color underneath to create a bold yet simple look. Just make sure your bra provides appropriate coverage.
  • Planning to travel or just get ready at a friend’s house? Don’t forget to pack your new bra in a CupCase so that it maintains its shape and is easy to find within your bag. And we’ve got a selection of colors perfect for holiday wear.

Party on ladies!

Keep ‘Em Healthy

breast cancer awareness brasEven though Breast Cancer Awareness Month ended in October along with all the promotion surrounding, we can’t let down our guard about breast health just because it’s over.

People sometimes find it difficult to talk about, well, breasts. Agreed, it’s a personal topic. But we at CupCase think it’s critical to overcome that “taboo” so we can talk and be educated about something that’s so important.

The Facts
The American Cancer Society’s most recent estimates for breast cancer in the U.S. are for 2011:

  • About 230,480 new cases of invasive breast cancer in women.
  • About 57,650 new cases of carcinoma in situ (CIS) will be found (CIS is non-invasive and is the earliest form of breast cancer).
  • About 39,520 deaths from breast cancer (women).

Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in the U.S., other than skin cancer. It is the second leading cause of cancer death in women, after lung cancer.

The chance of a woman having invasive breast cancer some time during her life is a little less 1 in 8. The chance of dying from breast cancer is about 1 in 35, though those rates have been going down. This is probably the result of finding the cancer earlier in addition to better treatment. Right now there are more than 2½ million breast cancer survivors in the U.S.

Take Charge. Be Proactive.

The American Cancer Society (ACS) says there is no sure way to prevent breast cancer, but there are things you can do to reduce your risk and increase your odds if cancer does occur.

ACS suggests you lower your risk of breast cancer by limiting alcohol use, exercising regularly and maintaining a healthy weight. You should also perform a monthly self-examination, see your doctor regularly and get mammograms when recommended. For women who are at risk, there is genetic testing, along with other preventative procedures that can be discussed with a doctor.

Early detection is a key to increasing your odds if cancer does occur.  Click here for more information on how breast cancer is found and how you can perform self exams.

CupCase cares. We want you to take charge, be proactive and keep “’em” healthy.
